BRIEF CV
(Mr) Koen Nomden is currently Team Leader for “Transparency and Recognition of Skills and Qualifications”, within the Unit on Skills and Qualifications of the European Commission (DG Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion). Other positions he held within the European Commission were that of Erasmus Mundus Programme Manager and of policy officer in charge of setting up a European Executive Agency in charge of implementing programmes in education, training, culture and media. Before joining the Commission in 2003 Koen worked at the University of Antwerp (researcher) and at the European Institute of Public Administration in Maastricht (the Netherlands). Koen studied public policy and public administration at the University of Twente (NL) and holds a Master in European Studies from the College of Europe, Bruges (BE).
SUMMARY OF PRESENTATION
EU policies and priorities in life-long learning, transparency of qualifications and career guidance. New ways forward.
The presentation will present recent developments at EU level based on the European Skills Agenda adopted on 1 July by the European Commission. The Skills Agenda was developed in a context of needs for green and digital transitions. The Covid-19 crisis has rapidly changed labour market prospects for millions of people in Europe. The Skills Agenda proposes a bold policy for jobs to strengthen competitiveness, to ensure social fairness and to build our resilience. To achieve these objectives lifelong learning must become a reality for all in Europe. The presentation will address different building blocks and actions of the Skills Agenda, including the aspects of transparency of qualifications and career guidance
